Israeli president to visit Cairo

The Israeli president's office has announced that Israeli President Ezer Weizman will visit Cairo on Thursday where he will meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Israeli Army Radio said that the meeting will be of special importance regarding Egyptian- Israeli relations, especially as President Mubarak has recently abstained from convening any meeting with official Israeli figures.

Mohammed Bassiouni, Egypt's ambassador in Israel, said the peace process is the main topic that will be tackled in the meeting, and he stated that Egypt does not interfere in the Israeli elections in any form.
