Nine banned Egyptian al-Jihad group members sentenced to death

The supreme military court in Cairo on Sunday sentenced to death nine members of the banned al-Jihad group, including the leader of the organization, Aymen al-Zawahri. The court, which is currently held at the Hiktisab military base north of Cairo and tried 107 suspects, also handed down life with hard labor sentences against 11 members who were tried in the course of the "Alkahi Tanteth" case. The court sentenced 78 of those convicted to imprisonment from one to 15 years and found another 20 not guilty.
