Israeli Cabinet discusses the conflict in al-Nasera
Israel, Politics, 4/19/1999
In a special meeting, the Israeli cabinet on Sunday discussed a plan submitted by the Israeli minister in charge of Arab affairs over the conflict taking place in the Israeli town of al-Nasera (Nazareth).
Israel Radio said that the proposed plan debates seven proposals. The radio did not clarify the type of these proposals nor their actual content.
According to Israeli government sources, the conflict between Muslims and Christians is about a historic landmark called "Shehab eddine land" and the building of a mosque on this land, a matter which is rejected by Christians.
The meeting was attended by Israeli Foreign Minister Ariel Sharon, Minister of Interior Avigdore Kahalani and Prime Minister Netanyahu's advisor for Arab affairs as well other Israeli officials concerned.
