Arafat arrives in Libya
Palestine-Kazakhstan, Politics, 4/17/1999

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat stopped yesterday evening at Egypt's Sharm El-Sheik airport on his way to Libya and Senegal.

Arafat made phone calls to the Egyptian president's advisor, Osama El-Baz, that tackled the results of the Palestinian president's Asian tour.

El-Baz said the Palestinian president will pay a visit to Egypt before the end of the current month to inform President Mubarak about the developments in the peace process and the results of his current tour.

Arafat visited Kazakhstan at where he convened with President Nursultan Nazarbayev, after which Arafat stated that declaring the Palestinian state is a legitimate right of the Palestinian people especially as the five transitional years according to peace agreements will end on May 4.

Arafat arrived today in Libya and met with Libyan President Moammar Gaddafi, while Palestinian sources said that US President Bill Clinton will direct a message to the Palestinian president that includes American ideas regarding the current situation of the peace process and urges the Palestinian leadership to delay declaring the Palestinian state, adding that these American new ideas come in an American step that was agreed upon during the summit between Clinton and Arafat last month.
