Yemeni presidential elections on September 26

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has decided to hold Yemen's presidential elections on September 26, according to the changes made by the Yemeni deputies council recently to some of the items governing the general elections process.

Yemeni sources said the parliamentary change focused on items related to dates, revision, editing and publishing the electoral tables and dates to be presented to the judicial courts for approval.

They continued that items related to procedures for the presidential elections were added to open the door to nominations for the post of president with a recommendation of 10% of the council's members 90 days before the end of the constitutional period for the state presidential.

It has comprised a right for each candidate for the presidential post to receive donations from the Yemeni citizens on condition that donations are made through a bank account and by providing a list of the donations to the supreme committee for elections.

The presidential term of President Ali Abdullah Saleh will end on October 4, and the new adjustments call for holding elections on September 26. This date coincides with the 37th anniversary of the Yemeni revolution in 1962.
