Indyk warns Iraq
Bahrain-USA, Politics, 4/16/1999

US Undersecretary of State for Near East Affairs Martin Indyk has said that there "are red lines that Iraq has not to exceed, otherwise it will be vulnerable to an answer by the US."

In a press conference he held in Manama on Wednesday night Indyk set out these line in "Iraq's threats against its neighbors or rebuilding its arsenals of weapons of mass destruction," as well as in a move towards the Kurds in the north and in threatening the efforts of the US and the allied troops in monitoring the two no-fly zones in the northern and southern parts of Iraq.

On Wednesday, Indyk met with Emir of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Issa al-Thani and discussed with him bilateral relations and the situation in the region.
