Morocco and South Africa determined to step up partnership

Morocco and South Africa voiced on Tuesday resolve to step up partnership in economy, trade, mining, energy and agriculture.

At meetings held in Rabat with members of the Moroccan government, visiting South-African deputy foreign minister, Aziz Pahad and accompanying business delegation, underlined the two countries economic complementarity and expressed firm resolve to level up trade exchanges and economic cooperation.

They also showed interest in Morocco's mining and energy sectors and offered their advanced technologies for the protection of Moroccan palm groves and development of geology exploration, electricity production and oil-extraction from coal.

For their part, Moroccan officials hailed the excellent political ties binding the two countries and surveyed the incentives granted to foreign investors and huge business opportunities offered by the kingdom in all sectors.

They also told the South-African delegation that Morocco is determined to upgrade its global cooperation with Johannesburg and will supply south-African entrepreneurs wishing to install in Morocco with necessary facilities.

The South African official, who arrived last weekend in Morocco on a several-day work visit, had so far met with prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi as well as the ministers of finance, agriculture, energy and mining.

The visit will be crowned with signing of a Moroccan-South African cooperation accord in the field of energy and mining.
