Rabat: Meeting of the executive bureau for the Arab Lawyers' Union

The meeting of the executive bureau for the Arab Lawyers' Union starts today under the auspices of Morocco's King Hassan II and will last for a week.

Farouk Abu Issah, the union's secretary general, told ArabicNews.com that the meeting will tackle the most important political and social developments in the area and the role of Arab lawyers and their unions in confronting the challenges that surround the Arab states.

He added that the meeting will also deal with reviewing the activities of the union's general trusteeship during the last period, discussing training programs, developing Arab lawyers' skills in the coming four years, establishing a bank for legal data.

The meeting will also address control of individual membership in its final form as well sending a delegation to follow up on the trial of the suspects in Lockerbie case which is to be held in Holland.

On the meeting's margin, a scientific symposium will be convened under the title, "The international criminal court in serving the Arab issues."
