Israeli forces bombard south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 4/14/1999
Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday shelled, using heavy artillery, the hills of Abu Rashed, al-Jabbour and al-Saraiah in the Western Bekaa as well as the surroundings of Zibqin, al-Mansouri and al-Butoum. Lebanese security sources said properties and plantations were damaged as a result of the bombardment.
The sources said Israeli warplanes carried out several fake raids in the airspace of the central and western sectors of occupied south Lebanon. Further reports said the Israeli forces continued to carry out arbitrary acts against the people of south Lebanon, especially against the occupied town of Shabaa. Lebanese security sources said the troops, after expelling three children on Monday, continued to impose a night curfew on Shabaa.
A special unit of the Lebanese resistance on Monday night carried out an operation in the depths of the occupied Lebanese territories on Daher al-Ramleh road. The resistance force was able to arrest Lt. Najim Elias Habib of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army militias.
A statement released by the resistance on Monday said that following two minutes of monitoring by the Lebanese security department, one of its special units carried out the operation and arrested the soldier who was serving in Ein Taghra district of contingent 20 in the SLA militia. He was brought to the liberated part of south Lebanon.
The arrested hireling soldier was born in 1980. His military number is 50671.
