New executions in Iraq

The Iraqi Communist Party in exile said in a statement, of which Reuters' office in Cairo received a copy on Tuesday, saying that Iraqi government forces executed tens of Iraqi citizens during the two past weeks in the southern city of Basra.

The statement added that the city of Basra and its suburbs are currently witnessing since two weeks continued acts of execution in an attempt to foil activities of the armed opposition there. The statement added that a large number of citizens was arrested, some of whom were brutally tortured before being killed.
