Mubarak in Emirates to discuss improving Arab states relations

Israeli occupation troops have displaced the children of Lebanese citizen Adel Rahal who was displaced, along with his wife, from Shabaa by the Israeli occupation forces last week. The displaced children arrived on Monday afternoon to the liberated regions via Zamraya crossing in the western Bekaa. Meanwhile, the occupation troops prevented Sheikh Mousa Ghader, Mufti of Arqoub region in south Lebanon, from entering Shabaa through Kafer Tabnit crossing as an envoy dispatched by the Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed Qabbani, to assess citizens' needs. Kuwait and China on Monday signed a three-year agreement on cultural cooperation. Morocco's ambassador in Germany, Abderrahim Chawki, passed away Saturday in a Paris hospital after a long illness. The late Chawki, who served in Bonn since January 1997, had undergone since last December several surgical operations in a Bonn hospital. In March, he was taken to Paris for additional diagnosis and treatment. Born in 1946, the Moroccan diplomat is survived by three children. Go

Arab lawyers will hold a meeting in Rabat this April 15-17 under the theme: "The lawyer's job: a humanitarian message and a means to reinforce human rights and democracy." The Arab lawyers will review the situation in the Arab world and the role of lawyers in the defense of human rights, the challenges facing barristers, the evolution of international law and ways of enhancing partnership between Arab lawyers and unification of judiciary procedures. The Arab Department for Investment and Agricultural Development, located in Jordan, has agreed upon financing the project of Egypt's El-Fayoum Company to produce 34 million pounds of sugar beets, while the company's capital amounts to 200 million pounds. Go

In a statement to the Israeli Radio on Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Arens denied any connection between minimizing the Israeli military presence in south Lebanon and the Israeli election campaign. He refused any criticism of his plan by the army in this regard. Arens said the Israeli army is currently embarking on studying the possibility of minimizing Israel's presence in the security zone of south Lebanon, according to his own request. Go

British Minister of Trade and Commerce Brain Wilson arrived in Kuwait on Monday for a two-day visit. In an arrival statement, Wilson said the aim of his current visit to Kuwait "is to discuss the mechanism of bringing into the Kuwait markets several British companies." Go

King Abdullah of Jordan, currently visiting the United Arab Emirates, met on Monday in Abu Dhabi with UAE President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan, and with Prime Minister Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed al-Sultan. The Gulf News Agency said that during the meeting talks dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and exchanging views on several issues of mutual concern and current Arab developments.
