Iraq says owed $1.6 billion by seven Arab states

An Iraqi diplomatic source told ArabicNews.com today that Iraq is owed money from petroleum exports and frozen profits from joint companies and banking deposits, amounting to $578.5 million in Saudi Arabia, $442 million in Syria, $318 million in Bahrain, $188.9 million in Kuwait, $86.5 million in Somalia, and $17.5 million in the United Arab Emirates.
The source said the total of money due to Iraq totaled $1.626 billion at the end of last March.
Meanwhile, the source said that Iraqi dues in Egypt amount to $2.5 million, $1.972 million of which is in frozen profits from companies and $488,000 is in bank deposits frozen according to United Nations decisions.
