Al-Assad receives a message from Blair

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Saturday received a message from British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The message was delivered to Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa during his meeting on Saturday in Damascus with member of the British Upper House Lord Michael Levy, who is also the special envoy for the British prime minister.
Present at the meeting was British ambassador in Damascus Basil Eastwood. Talks dealt with current conditions in the Middle East, the suspended Middle East peace process and bilateral relations between Syria and Britain.
