On the Inter-Palestinian conflict in north Lebanon
Lebanon-Palestine, Politics, 4/12/1999
The secretary general of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Nayef Hawatemah, spoke about the real reasons that pushed opposition Palestinian groups to attack the headquarters of his front in al-Beddawi camp in north Lebanon.
He added that the direct reasons started with the convening of the "Diaspora" conference in December 1998, when the "Democratic front refused and confronted the 'toppling' political address" of the extremist and adventurous forces and foiled the setting up of a parallel PLO. In a statement he made on Sunday to the Jordanian daily al-Dustour, Hawatemah added that the group which works under the name Fatah, "was and is still a bloody security phenomenon" and never was at any time a real Palestinian group which fights according to a program against the occupation inside the occupied territories and the Diaspora, alike.
He said they do not have even active one armed or non-armed cell in Palestine and since 1983 "not one single bullet or stone was launched against the expansionist Zionist enemy."
