Egyptian mufti: Man's cloning is prohibited
Egypt, Religion, 4/10/1999
Nasser Farid Wasel, Egypt's Mufti, said yesterday that cloning of man contradicts Islamic legislation and is prohibited in all its forms because it contradicts with Islam.
He said, "God determined one method after creating Adam, which is the legitimate relation between male and female in the limits he created, which create love and passion between them to confirm the stability of societies and its cooperation on seeking the good, which will be not achieved by man's duplication."
He added, "Society in Islam is based on religion, soul, spirit -- which is one of god's secrets -- and the relation base, which comes only by legitimate marriage, and the base of reason God created in man to judge him over his deeds."
The Mufti said Islamic society will not feel stability if one of these basis is violated.
