Regional, Politics, 4/10/1999

The Arab Lawyers Union called for forming an Arab international organization to follow up on the Lockerbie trail. Meanwhile, the union announced its total solidarity with the Libyan position, calling for lifting the sanctions immediately.

Meanwhile, the union condemned the US continuation of unilateral sanctions against Libya. The union warned of US maneuvers that aim against solving problems with Libyan people.

On the other hand, Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi praised the great role played by President Mubarak to solve the Lockerbie bombing. He said this is not a strange position from Egypt and its people to have adopted its just stand.

He added that the Libyan people carry all feelings of thanks, and appreciation for the Egyptian people for all facilities throughout the years of the sanctions imposed on Libya.
