Egypt calls for preventing nuclear explosives
Egypt-International, Politics, 4/10/1999

The meetings of the international parliamentary conference start today in Brussels, in which Egypt participates with a high-ranking delegation chaired by Fathi Serour, the head of the Egyptian People's Assembly.

Egyptian sources told ArabicNews.com that the Egyptian delegation will raise up the draft resolution calling on all countries that possess nuclear weapons -- specifically Israel -- to halt any nuclear explosions either in the sea or air or underground, and the importance that all countries, especially those witnessing political tensions, to join the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and acknowledge their right to use nuclear energy for peaceful means.

Moreover, Egypt presented another draft calling on the industrial countries to specify 7% of their total national production toward developing and upgrading international cooperation and to coordinate so as to contribute effectively to saving and improving the resort and solving the problems of great cities.
