Minister of health Salam to operate on patients in Palestine
Egypt-Palestine, Health, 4/10/1999

Egyptian Minister of Health Ismaal Salam arrived in Gaza this morning, where he is going to operate on patients with heart problems.

The minister of health is accompanied by a high-powered Egyptian medical delegation to conduct a number of surgeries on persons from the Gaza Strip with heart problems in Dar El-Shifaa hospital in Gaza, which is considered the first step of its sort.

The general manager of hospitals in Gaza, Dr. Faisel Abu Shahla, said these operations cost $400,000, but the Egyptian delegation will carry out the surgeries for free within the framework of continued medical education for doctors in the Palestinian Authority.

Dr. Faisel pointed out that the Egyptian delegation, which comprises 12 doctors, would make the heart operations assisted by a Palestinian specialized group, and they are going to carry out four operations daily for a week.
