Al-Rawabdeh pledges to fight corruption in Jordan

The Jordanian government chaired by Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh on Thursday won the confidence of 66 parliament members out of 80. 12 parliamentarians voted against it and the other two abstained from voting following three-day debates.
Following his winning of the confidence vote, the Jordanian prime minister stressed his commitment to strengthening Jordan's democratic policy and to launch programs on "correction and economic privatization on the internal level, adherence to the Arab commitment, backing the Palestinians, desire to maintain a future relations with the Palestinians, and to abide by the choice of peace on the external level."
Al-Rawabdeh, who formed a government on March 4, the first government under King Abdullah, said the national dialogue the government will launch "does not exclude any sides, nor any topic, stand or law in any respect."
He pledged to modify the press law, to establish a human rights department and to set up a vocational organization for teachers, noting that "all freedom laws are subject to discussions."
