Moroccan lawmaker meets Lebanese peers after solidarity visit to Iraq
Morocco-Lebanon, Politics, 4/8/1999
Moroccan MP Brahim Rachidi, sixth vice-speaker of the house of representatives, held on Wednesday a meeting with his Lebanese peers.
Rachidi came to Beirut after he paid a "solidarity" visit to Iraq at the head of an Arab parliamentary delegation.
Rachidi met with vice-speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Elie Ferzli, and chairman of the foreign affairs committee, Ali Al-Khalil. Talks dealt with Moroccan-Lebanese relations and particularly between the two states' legislative bodies.
The two sides also examined the possibility of setting up a "brothership" parliamentary committee.
Rachidi also informed the Lebanese officials of the results of the mission he led to Iraq and the situation resulting from eight years of economic sanctions.
