Kurdish Parliament delegation visits Cairo
Regional-Egypt, Politics, 4/8/1999
A Kurdish source in Cairo said the Kurdish Parliament in exile decided to convene "the Kurdistani National conference" by the end of June to discuss the formation of a Kurdish government in exile.
The source added that a delegation from the Kurdish Parliament, which arrived in Cairo several days ago, met with Egyptian's people's activists, representatives of political parties and organizations and human rights delegates to discuss the possibility of establishing a solidarity committee with Kurdistani leader Abdullah Ocalan, currently being held in a Turkish jail.
The delegation includes member of the foreign relations committee in the Kurdish Parliament Mousa Kaval and member of the cultural committee Nazif Mai.
Kaval said, "The arrest of Ocalan has escalated the process of coordination between the Kurdish movements, which have finally succeeded in approving a general framework for cooperation."
The Kurdish delegation met with the representatives of the (leftist) Coalition Party. Kaval added that the conference will be held in a European state which he did not specify.
Parliament member Nazif Mai said the "delegation seeks to arrange meetings with the Egyptian officials and other Egyptian parties and activists in order to strengthen inter-peoples relations."
