Natural gas from Qatar to Dubai
Qatar-United Arab Emirates, Economics, 4/8/1999
An official in the United Arab Emirates said on Wednesday that negotiations are currently underway between Qatar and the Emirate of Dubai to supply the Emirate with natural gas from Qatar.
AFP quoted Sheikh Ahmad Bin Saeed al-Maktoum, chairman of the UAE airline company and chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Department as saying that Qatari gas will be transported via pipelines at a rate to be enough for a period ranging between five to ten years, SANA reported.
Qatar and the UAE agreed to set up the Qatari gas transportation network to the UAE and then to Oman at a cost estimated at US $8 to 10 billion.
Qatar, however, exports the main portion of its gas to the Asian market.
