UN agree to extend the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission

Spokesman for the United Nations secretary general, Fred Eckhard, said yesterday that the UN Security Council had agreed to extend the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission (UNIKOM) for another six months, until October 6.
He added that the flow of oil to the Mina Al Bakr loading platform in Iraq was normal. The UN Office of the Iraq Programme (OIP) said on Sunday Iraqi oil pumping had been interrupted.
Three reports on the UN panels on Iraq will be presented today by Celso Amorim of Brazil, and discussion on the reports is expected to last at least through Thursday, Eckhard said.
