Statement by Iranian opposition organization
Iran-Iraq, Politics, 4/7/1999

The Iranian "Mujahedeen Khalq" opposition organization has announced that four Iraqi civilians were killed in a car explosion bombed by hirelings for the Iranian government west of Baghdad.

In a statement released in Baghdad on Tuesday, the organization said the explosion took place on March 18 in al-Haswa ( stone) district to the west of Baghdad, just a few kilometers from the organization's Badee Zadkan camp.

The organization added that the explosion also wounded several persons, including women and children, and inflicted damages on several houses and cars near the camp.

Last Sunday, the Iranian news agency, IRNA, said heavy casualties were inflicted on the al-Mujahedeen following a huge explosion that took place in March at the headquarters of the organisation's leadership in Baghdad.

The Mujahedeen Khalq which is the strongest Iranian opposition organization, takes Iraq as its headquarters. The organization has military bases and fighters in Baghdad. It often reports about Iranian attacks against its bases and members in Iraq.
