35 million pounds for saving Pharonic temple in Egyptian oasis
Egypt, Politics, 4/6/1999

The Egyptian Higher Council for Antiquities started implementing steps to save Hepes temple in El-Kharge Oasis by raising an international bid for dissolving, transporting and reassembling the temple in its new location 500 meters from its current location.

Gaballah Ali Gaballah, secretary general of the Higher Council for Antiquities said Hepes temple relates to the 26th pharonic family and moving it represents the biggest rescue operation for an Egyptian antiquity since Abu Simbul in the sixties and the pillars of Luxor's temple ended in 1997.

Gaballah also said the moving process will be under the full supervision of Egyptian experts and will cost 35 million pounds out of 100 million pounds that were specified for repairing some of Egyptian antiquities projects that include developing the Sphinx, moving Hepes temple and developing the pyramids.
