Lebanese president condemns Israeli aggressions against the Lebanese people
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 4/5/1999
Lebanese President Emile Lahoud has condemned the Israeli attacks carried out on Sunday afternoon against the western Bekaa and south Lebanon. He called on authorized bodies to tackle the situation and take care of the wounded.
Meanwhile, a Lebanese resistance group detonated an explosive charge when an Israeli patrol was driving near Ban Forte. The resistance confirmed in a statement it had identified injuries on the patrol's members.
A child, Ali Hassan Khalil, 8 years, was wounded in the Israeli shelling of Arab Salim town. Two houses were considerably damaged while electricity poles and high-tension lines which feed the region with electricity were hit.
The Israeli attacks were accompanied by heavy machine gun fire targeting mountainous routes that link al-Tuffah district to the occupied strip of south Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes launched fake and mock provocative raids at low altitudes over al-Tuffah district and al-Nabatiyeh region, dropping thermal balloons.
