Shaath meets Moussa, says European statement supports standing with Palestinian people
Palestine-Egypt, Politics, 4/3/1999
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa met yesterday with Palestinian Minister of International Cooperation and Planning Nabil Shaath in the attendance of the Palestinian ambassador in Cairo, Zohdy El-Kadra.
Following the meeting, Shaath stated that the discussions concentrated on two main important points: evaluating what progress has taken place till now and planning for the coming stage. Shaath described what has taken place so far is as a good achievement that represents the heights of Egyptian - Palestinian joint diplomatic work, saying that the last stage focused on Europe to obtain a clear statement not to attach any conditions to the Palestinian right to proclaim their state and not to allow an Israeli veto.
He said that Israel cannot put conditions on requiring negotiations as the means of proclaiming a state but to confirm that the state is an absolute right, and the negotiations should take place as soon as possible where Israel can carry out all the commitments resulting from it.
