Algeria demands an apology from Morocco on accusing her of the terrorist accident
Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 4/1/1999

Algerian Prime Minister Ismael Hamdani announced that his government waits for an apology from Morocco because the latter has accused Algeria of involvement in a terrorist attack against tourists in Marrakesh in 1994.

Hamadani said that Morocco's government is still being asked for this apology since no evidence was presented to the involvement of Algeria until now.

He also said that the Moroccan call for opening the closed borders between the two countries was not formally presented to Algeria, but only announced through the media.

A French group of Algerian origin attacked a group of tourists in a hotel in the Morocco city of Marrakesh in 1994 resulting in two deaths. In response to this incident, which Morocco accused Algeria of being behind, Morocco expelled thousands of Algerians and imposed an entry visa on Algerian citizens.

Algeria closed its land borders with Morocco, and imposed entry visas on Moroccans in return.
