Netanyahu: No peace, no Palestinian state
Palestine, Politics, 3/31/1999
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a new wave of provocative statements saying that the only peace that can be achieved in the Middle East is the peace based on the suppression of force.
In statements to the Israeli newspaper Maariv published today, Netanyahu said that peace prevailing among democratic countries can never be achieved in the region because the Middle East is missing democracy, which prevents leaders from taking unconsidered steps.
It is worth mentioning that Netanyahu had said that he is no bound by the decisions of his predecessors, and his government have been accused worldwide of not honoring signed agreements.
Netanyahu said his stand toward proclaiming the Palestinian state emerges from his understanding that such a state could possess tanks, fighters, and terrorism bases that will lead to new disputes.
