Egypt-Senegal, Politics, 3/31/1999
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa received yesterday Senegalese Foreign Minister Jacques Baudin who arrived to Cairo for a quick visit on his return to his country after visiting Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Following his talks with Moussa, Baudin said they tackled Egyptian - Sengalese relations in all their aspects in light of the fraternal and historical ties that have linked the two countries from the days of the governments of Gamal Abd El-Naser and Sengor till the current governments of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and his Senegalese counterpart Abdu Diouf.
He also added that the meeting tackled the topics that will be discussed at the Egyptian-Singalese joint committee to be held in Cairo before the end of this year.
He added that the talks also discussed the areas of conflict on the African continent and the negative outcomes of these disputes, especially in the Great Lakes region.
Commenting on the statement released by the European summit in Berlin on the European countries' support for proclaiming the Palestinian state, the Senegalese foreign minister said this statement is an encouraging and positive element, adding that, "We would put into consideration that the Palestinians themselves should decide their determination and we only have to advise and guide them."
