Israelis back pullout from Lebanon, refuse withdrawal from Golan
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 3/30/1999
A poll published Monday by Israel's "Yedeot Aharnout" daily revealed that 55% of Israelis support an immediate and unilateral withdrawal of Israeli troops from south Lebanon.
However, 37% of the polled population said they are against any pullout from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, according to the Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.
The Israeli government has proposed to withdraw troops from Lebanon under some conditions, but Lebanon has rejected the proposal, insisting that troops should be evacuated unconditionally in line with the United Nations resolutions.
