Abdul Meguid sends message to Annan
Regional, Politics, 3/30/1999

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid sent a communique to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, in which Abdul Meguid informed Annan about the decisions of the AL council, at the top of which come the Iraq issue and Lockerbie impasse.

Abdul Meguid said the communique addresses the coordination over the humanitarian issues between Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and working on enhancing the work of the International Committee of the Red Cross to solve certain problems, specifically the issue of "the missing."

He added that the communique confirms the AL's concern with Iraqi's unity, its regional safety and the importance of halting any military operations against Iraq taking place outside Security Council decisions.

He also emphasized the importance of all parties abiding by implementing the UN Security Council's decisions.
