Japan calls on Israel to carry out peace accord
Israel-Japan, Politics, 3/26/1999
Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura called Israel to implement its peace accords with the Palestinians until Israeli general elections are completed in May, the Japanese minister said in press statements.
Following a 20-minute meeting with Knesset leader Dan Tichon, the Japanese minister called on the Israeli government to start implementing the Wye River agreement.
Tichon informed Komura that the Israeli Knesset agrees in principle on moving towards peace, but said there are contradictary points of view between those who desire to proceed decisively with the peace agreement and those who oppose the agreement, warning of internal destabilization.
