Arab independent listed in Israeli elections
Israel, Politics, 3/26/1999
The National Democratic Assembly, chaired by Israeli Arab Knesset member Azmi Bishara, is to enter the coming Israeli elections on an independent list.
Israel Radio said today that the decision comes in light of the failure of the alliance agreement the NDA signed a week before with the National Unity Party, chaired by the Knesset member Hashem al-Mahamid that joined yesterday the expanded alliance with the Arab united list.
The Radio report also stated there are informal contacts held between the NDA and the Arabic Movement for Change and the advanced movement for peace in order to form an Arabic united bloc in these elections.
