Lebanese deputy calls for resisting governmental corruption
Lebanon, Politics, 3/26/1999

Gamil Shamass, a member of the Lebanese Parliament challenged Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Michel Moussa to reveal officials in the ministries of work and social affairs who are accused of corruption and squandering public resources.

At a press conference he held yesterday at the headquarters of the Lebanese Parliament, Shamass asserted the spread of bribery in the Labor Ministry, with amounts of millions of dollars, specifying large amounts in the Ministry of Social Affairs to help false assemblies.

Moreover Shamass challenged Minister of State for Administrative Reform Hassan Shalaq to uncover any files of these two ministries, clarifying that the cases of corruption are concerning the current government but they are from years ago.

Shamass called on the general prosecution to investigate the accusations he leveled at the corrupt employees in the ministries of work and social affairs.
