A message to Annan from Abdul Meguid
Regional-Iran-UN, Politics, 3/25/1999

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to include the issue of Iran's occupation of three Gulf islands also claimed by the United Arab Emirates within the problems raised in the US Security Council until Iran ends its occupation of the three islands, Abu Mousa, and Greater and Lesser Tanb.

A message sent by Abdul Meguid to both UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and the head of the Security Council condemned the recent Iranian military maneuvers that included the three islands and demanded that Iran stop such actions and adopt peaceful means of settling the current dispute according to the principals of international law.

Furthermore, the message warned Iran of imposing the "fait accompli" policy in the occupied territories, saying that the Arab states support presenting the issue to the International Court of Justice.
