Saudi pharmaceutical company obtains right to manufacture antibiotics

The Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries & Medical Appliances Corp. (SPIMACO) along with US-based company Eli Lilly has endorsed an agreement to buy rights to produce Cephalosporins, one type of medical antibiotics.

The company will merchandize them in Saudi Arabia, the GCC states and Yemen, in addition to providing technical subsidies, transforming production techniques, addressing registration issues, and training marketing departments and representatives to follow up with pharmacists and doctors.

The Saudi Health Ministry released a news report today stating that the Saudi private and public sectors spend more than 3.5 billion riyals annually on medicines and that there are more than 450 companies for selling and merchandizing medicines.

The Saudi pharmaceutical company produces more than 100 formally registered products and medical preparations.
