Iraq, Jordan communicate to establish petroleum line

Iraqi Minister of Petroleum Amer Mohammed Rashid said the communications continued with Jordan to implement a project for an Iraqi - Jordanian petroleum pipeline.
The Iraqi minister added that the estimated cost for the establishment of the pipeline, which would feed the Zarka Refinery in Jordan with 150,000 barrels of raw petroleum daily is nearly $300 million, while the cost of the pipeline to Aqaba which would carry 350,000 barrels per day amounts to $600 million, bringing the total cost of the project amounts to $900 million.
The Iraqi minister, moreover, said the idea of establishing a pipeline between Jordan and Iraq has been raised for several years, adding that an agreement was endorsed for this project on 1995 and that the pipeline aims at supplying the Jordanian Zarka Refinery with its petroleum needs.
