Pope John Paul II to visit Jerusalem

Roman Catholic Pope John Paul II is going to visit the Palestinian lands at the beginning of the coming year to participate in the conclusion of the celebrations of the second millennium since the death of Jesus, yet the Israeli minister of tourism, who made the announcement, did not confirm that the actual arrangements for the Pope's visit to the holy places have been made yet.
Thus the Pope John Paul II was the first Pope to visited Israel and Jerusalem in 1994 and since this time the Pope has not been able to visit the holy places due to security concerns.
