Jordan calls on Israel to carry out pacts of water shares
Jordan-Israel, Politics, 3/22/1999

Jordanian Foreign Minister Abd al-Ilah al-Khatib confirmed yesterday his country's adherence to receiving its share of water from Israel. He told ArabicNews.com that the peace pact that Jordan signed with Israel controls the subject of water-sharing with Israel.

al-Khatib added that Jordan seeks for Israel to carry out the obligations that came out of the peace agreement, at the top of which comes water sharing.

The Jordanian minister, moreover, expected that Israel would fulfill its commitments toward the subject of water, confirming that there are clear texts in this regard, urging Israel to carry out the signed agreement and keep to its word concerning the water share of Jordan.

Israel has told Jordan it will reduce by 60% of Jordan's share of water during the coming summer citing low rain fall as a reason.
