Jordan celebrates the 31st anniversary of al-Karamah battle

Jordan on Sunday celebrated the 31st anniversary of al-Karamah battle, which took place between the Jordanian Army and the Israeli Army in 1968.

On this occasion, the Jordanian armed forces held a parade attended by King Abdullah of Jordan, Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh, army Chief of Staff Abdul Hafez al-Kaabenah and high-ranking Jordanian army officers.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah on Sunday discussed with European Union Middle East peace process special envoy Miguel Moratinos, Middle East peace developments. The two sides discussed the peace process, obstacles impeding it, especially on the Palestinian - Israeli track, and the role that can be played by the EU in backing the Middle East peace process.

King Abdullah described this very EU role as always being objective and as always asserting the need to abide by the international legitimacy resolutions and terms of reference which are relevant agreements. King Abdullah also stressed the full backing of Jordan for the Palestinian people by all means, especially the rights of the Palestinians for the establishment of the Palestinian state on the native soil of Palestine.

Talks also dealt with joint projects carried out by Jordan and the European states.

King Abdullah expressed his country's thanks for the support given by the EU member states towards Jordan and their efforts to strengthen development in Jordan. He called for coordinating stances that help foster the peace process and agreements signed with sides concerned.
