Israel, Politics, 3/22/1999
It was agreed on Saturday to form a plenary united list comprising Arab parties in Israel in order to take part in the forthcoming Knesset elections.
Israel Radio said on Sunday that the list includes the "United Arab list, the National Unity Party and the progressive movement for peace and other political figures and cadres."
Current Knesset member Azmi Bishara was invited to join this list and was given the fourth position, as this list will be presided over by Abdul Malik al-Dahamesha.
The list also includes Talab al-Sane, Hashem Mahameed, Tawfiq al-Khatib and Muhammad Canaan.
On the other hand, the Democratic National Coalition has collected signatures in support of nominating Azmi Bishara for the post of the premier for the new Israeli government.
