Clinton failed to organize a meeting in Amman between President al-Assad, Peres

Monte Carlo Radio said on Sunday that the French magazine "Novelle Observator" reported in its Sunday issue that US President Bill Clinton tried in vain in Amman to organize a meeting on the sidelines of King Hussein's funeral between Syrian President Hafez al-Assad and former Israeli Premier Shimon Peres and Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai, adding that President Clinton's attempt failed due to President al-Assad's reservations about the meeting.
