Morocco, Business, 3/20/1999

Moroccan Minister of Industry, Trade and Handicraft Alami Tazi reviewed in Rabat Friday with a delegation of the Amylum industrial group, specializing in the production of starch and glucose, prospects of making fructose in a Casablanca plant.

The Casablanca plant processes a daily 150 tons of imported corn to produce starch and glucose. Its extension will enable the annual production of 70,000 tons of fructose, sugar derived from fruits and used in food industry and beverages, and decrease the production cost of industries which are using refined sugar.

The Moroccan minister assured the Amylum delegation of his department readiness to support the carrying out of the project.
