United Nations employee accused of smuggling carpets to Iraq

Iraq accused a United Nations employee of attempting to smuggle prohibited Iranian carpets into Baghdad.
Iraqi sources said today that the border authorities with Jordan found 10 large pieces of carpet hidden among the bags of female employee of the Food and Agriculture Organization, affiliated to the U.N.
Iraqi customs employees stopped her on the border between Iraq and Jordan during last February.
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tareq Aziz sent a message to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in which he asked the UN to issue instructions to its employees working in Iraq to abide by and respect the laws in Iraq.
