Mubarak: Israel wants to be the only one with weapons

In statements to the chief editor of the Egyptian daily al-Gomhuria published on Thursday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak expressed his denunciation to the campaign mounted by Israel against Egypt in order to disarm it. He added that the weapons Egypt gets are just "Egypt's credit to defend herself," adding that Egypt calls for a genuine peace, but it has to have weapons with which it can defend itself. He indicated that the Israelis "obviously don't want anybody to own these weapons to maintain their supremacy in the region," which, he said, "is wrong thinking by all means."
