US company wins UAE contract
United Arab Emirates-USA, Military, 3/17/1999

The United Arab Emirates Defense Ministry announced today that the US company Oriental has won a contract for "setting up upgraded electronic systems" in Mirage jets affiliated to the UAE Air Force in a deal valued at more than $10 million.

An official in the Defense Ministry said that the American company has completed installing these systems on Mirage 2000 Fighters used by the UAE Air Force, while its is manufacturing more systems to provide to the Mirage 2000 jets acquired by Abu Dhabi in France last year.

He added that the ministry demanded these systems after they underwent a successful test in the United States two years ago and that the reason behind giving this contract to the US company relates to Abu Dhabi's great trust in the US company and the competency of its systems and bodies.
