Lahoud confirms Lebanese - Syrian tracks are correlative
Lebanon, Politics, 3/17/1999

Lebanese President General Emile Lahoud confirmed that the Lebanese and Syrian peace process tracks are correlated, where the Lebanese stance has coincided with the meeting of the 'cease-fire monitoring committee' in the south and with a raid launched by the Israeli war planes on a Hizbullah site in south Lebanon.

Moreover, the Lebanese president confirmed that there are Israeli attempts to separate the two tracks from each other, but he said these attempts will fail. He also stated opposition to any amendments to the April Understanding accord, which provides for not launching any attacks targeting civilians and populated areas.

Lahoud announced that 15 Lebanese citizens accused of cooperating with Israel and spying for its interest in the Lebanese lands outside the Lebanese occupied strip are to be tried.

In case the charges are supported, the accused will be executed.
