Jordan, Local, 3/17/1999
The Jordanian weekly al-Sabeel has highlighted a continued arrest campaign in the ranks of the Islamic movements in Jordan, noting that number of detainees in the past two months reached 14, including a member of the Shoura council from the Muslim Brotherhood group, Ahmad Abu Saad.
The paper added, quoting sources from the Islamic movement, that during the past few days several members of the movement's main cadres were summoned for investigation.
In a statement to the same paper, the general observer for the Muslim Brotherhood group in Jordan, Abdul Majid Zuneiban, described the acts of arrest among members of the Islamic movement as unjustified and oppressive.
