Tunisian unionist passes away

Tunisian nationalist and trade union militant, Habib Achour, passed away on Sunday night and was buried on Monday.
Achour who died at the age of 86 was among the pioneer nationalist militants. He took part, along with leader Farhat Hached, in the creation of the first Tunisian trade union movement and then in the foundation of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) in 1946.
His struggle against colonialism cost him imprisonment and deportation.
The orations delivered during the funerals surveyed the stages of the struggle led by the late achour for national independence as well as at the level of the trade union and hailed his militant stands and sacrifices for the glory of the motherland.
